Handling Static Sensitive Devices (ESD) Procedure

| site home | document home |

Purpose Section

The purpose of this procedure is to establish guidelines for the handling and storage of all static sensitive components and subassemblies.

Another Sample Section (Introduction)

Static electricity is a major destroyer of sensitive electronic devices. Some of these components can be destroyed by less than 100 volts of static charge and personnel handling these devices can easily generate over 10,000 volts of static charge. A device, even if not destroyed by a static charge, can have its performance degraded. This degradation can cause premature failure after field installation; a more costly problem to solve. Therefore, it is imperative that correct handling techniques be used for these components through all phases of assembly and repair.
